Dozens of new demolition orders continue to be issued by the Israeli authorities across the occupied Palestinian territories on a daily basis, in a serious infringement of international law and of Palestinians’ right to decent housing.

WAFA News Agency quoted Palestinian activist Rateb Jabour as stating that an Israeli army force handed four Palestinian residents of Tuwani village, in Masafer Yatta, in the southern occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil, demolition orders against their homes under the pretext they were built without construction permits.

The orders will displace the families currently residing in these homes, he said, who are mainly women and children.

At the same time, the soldiers commandeered a truck loaded with steel bars intended to be used for construction and transferred it to a police station in a nearby settlement, added the activist.

Israel’s efforts have been under full swing to displace Palestinians from Area C, which makes over 60 percent of the West Bank’s overall area, in an attempt to annex Palestinian land and build Jewish settlements there.
