Representatives of the UN Agency for Palestine refugees have underscored the hardship faced by the Palestinian refugee community in Ein AlHilweh camp, south of Lebanon.

This came during a meeting between Acting Commissioner-General of the UN Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Christian Saunders, Director of UNRWA operations in Lebanon Claudio Cordone, and representatives of the popular committees in the camp.

The delegations discussed the dire socio-economic conditions endured by Palestinian refugees in Ein AlHilweh camp.

The UNRWA delegation, headed by Saunders, paid a visit to local schools and inspected amenities provided in the camp.

At the same time, Palestine Ambassador in Lebanon Ashraf Dabour called on UNRWA to enhance services for Palestinians taking refuge in the camp and urged the international community and donor parties to increase funds to UNRWA so as to enable the Agency to fulfill its relief mission.
