10 Palestinians in coronavirus-gripped Italy have tested positive for novel coronavirus COVID-19, raising concerns over the propagation of the deadly virus among the Palestinian refugee community abroad.
Palestine's ambassador to Italy, Abeer Odeh, told WAFA in a phone call that two of the 10 Palestinians infected with COVID-19 have been placed in intensified care, while the rest of the patients have been quarantined at their homes.
Odeh said the Palestinian embassy in Italy has been following up on the conditions of those infected and on the rest of the Palestinian community in the country to ensure there are safe.
A month after the first cases exploded into view in northern Italy, the coronavirus has killed more than 4,000 Italians, including 627 reported on Friday alone. It has sickened tens of thousands more and swiftly rendered the country unrecognizable — somber, desolate and scared. But for all the life-disrupting measures Italy has taken to slow the virus, it continues to spread and kill at an alarming clip.
