196 migrants stranded in Moria camp in Greece have gone on a hunger strike to protest abject conditions in the migrant facility and push for their transfer to a safer destination.

Hundreds of Palestinian refugees have been deeply concerned about their fate in the tension-stricken Moria camp, pitched on the Greek island of Lesbos, amid COVID-19 outbreak in the Southeastern European country.

Palestinian refugees and other migrants have been subjected to a dire humanitarian situation in Moria camp among other substandard facilities set up in Greece, most of them vastly overcrowded, unhygienic and violence-prone.

Over recent months, Moria, one of the biggest refugee camps in Europe, has been running at three times its capacity, with nearly 20,000 refugees.

Palestinian refugees continue to risk their lives onboard the “death boats” to Greece, rummaging around for a momentary respite from the daily scenes of displacement, destruction, and economic hardship.
