Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh strongly condemned Israel’s intent to annex larger parts of the occupied West Bank and impose sovereignty over illegal settlements as a violation of international law and a threat to regional security.

This came during a meeting in Ramallah with Arab ambassadors to Palestine, where he briefed them on the latest political developments and the leadership’s decision to absolve from all signed agreements with Israel, reported Wafa News Agency.

The premier stressed President Mahmoud Abbas and the leadership’s readiness to take the decision to absolve from all agreements signed with Israel, stating that: “We have translated this decision on the ground through ending coordination at all levels with the Israeli side, and Israel has begun a number of measures in response to our decision in an attempt to undermine and incite against the Palestinian Authority’s work.”

He lauded the Arab and international stance against Israel’s annexation plans, calling on the world to take a serious stand to prevent Israel from implementing its plans.

Ambassador of Morocco to Palestine, Mohammad Hamzawi, stressed on behalf of the Arab ambassadors the illegality of Israel’s plans to annex the Jordan Valley and to impose sovereignty over the settlements.

He said that Israel’s annexation of the Jordan Valley constitutes a violation of international law and UN resolutions, and if implemented it would lead to the destabilization of the two-state solution and security in the region.
