2 More Palestinians Succumb to COVID-19 Abroad, Death Toll Hits 181

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has reported two new coronavirus-related deaths among Palestinian refugees abroad, which brings the death toll among the diaspora Palestinians to 181.

The two recent victims have been identified by the Foreign Ministry as members of the Palestinian community in the United States and Algeria.

According to the Ministry’s database, Ali Mahmoud Shaaban, 47, from Chicago in the US, died of coronavirus on Wednesday.

Ali’s death raises the death toll among Palestinians in the US to 65.

At the same time, Inshirah Khalil Mahdi, 74, has died in Algeria. Another Palestinian refugees was pronounced dead in the country sometime earlier.

So far, 3537 Palestinians have contracted the virus abroad, among them 1,943 in the US. 1,523 cases have recovered.
