Palestine Joins World Free Zones Organization

Palestine has become a full member of the World Free Zones Organization.

The Minister of National Economy and Chairman of the General Authority of Industrial Estates and Free Industrial Zones, Khaled Osaily, announced on Thursday the admission of the State of Palestine into the World Free Zones Organization.

According to Wafa news agency, this came during the annual conference of the organization, which was attended by representatives of 37 countries via video conferencing technology, with the participation of the Palestinian Industrial Zones Authority representing the State of Palestine.

Mohamed al-Zarouni, head of the World Free Zones Organization, who chaired the conference from the headquarters of the international organization in Dubai, said that the admission of Palestine by the organization “is an essential step towards supporting and enabling it to attain its rights guaranteed by international law.”

Commenting on that, Osaily expressed, according to a statement by his ministry, his appreciation to the member states for accepting the full membership of the State of Palestine in the world organization, which comes within the efforts of the Palestinian government to place the State of Palestine on the world map in the areas of investment and the strengthening of international relations so as to improve exports of national products and attract investment.

He stressed the importance of developing and improving the investment environment in the Palestinian industrial zones by benefiting from the experiences of the member states in this field and from joint cooperation.

At the same time, he said the move will encourage international investors to invest in the Palestinian industrial areas.
