Ministry Sounds Alarm over Increasing Coronavirus Cases among Palestinians Abroad

A number of new coronavirus cases have been reported among Palestinians taking refuge in Europe and America, raising the total cases among Palestinian expatriates to 6,250, the Palestinian Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ministry said on Monday.

In a press statement, the Foreign Ministry said that 11 Palestinians in Columbus, Michigan and New Jersey tested positive for the novel coronavirus, raising the total number of infections among Palestinians in the US to 3,803 and in the diaspora to 6,250.

New coronavirus-related deaths have been reported by the Ministry. Four Palestinians have died of COVID-19 in Libya and another in Saudi Arabia. The overall death toll among Palestinians abroad has reached 266. The death toll among Palestinians in the US stands at 78.

According to the latest statistics by Worldometer, some 41,957 coronavirus cases have been recorded in the occupied Palestinian territories. The death toll has hit 339. 35,182 cases have recovered.
