Coronavirus Claims Life of 322 Palestinians Abroad

Another Palestinian has died of coronavirus abroad, bringing the death toll among Palestinians in the Diaspora to 322, reported the Palestinian Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ministry. 

The ministry said Palestinian businessman and founder of the Palestinian community in Manaus; the capital of the vast state of Amazonas, Ali Yacoub, has died of the disease in Brazil, bringing the death toll among Palestinians in Brazil to seven.

At the same time, 26 Palestinians in the USA contracted the virus, bringing the total confirmed cases among Palestinians in the USA to 6,236. The death toll stands at 111.

The ministry recorded a new case of covid-19 in the Palestinian embassy in Tunisia. The embassy was shut down and is expected to reopen on Monday after disinfecting the building.

Seven other cases were recorded among Palestinians in Italy, which raises the number there to 221.

According to the ministry’s database, 9,183 Palestinians have contracted the virus abroad since the outbreak of the pandemic.
