The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) will re-adjust the exchange rate of its cash grants to the Palestinians of Syria.

Every registered refugee will receive 60,000 Syrian pounds, up from the current 34,000 grant.

Vulnerable cases will receive 90,000 Syrian pounds, up from the current 52,000 sum.

The decision has reportedly seen the day after Syria’s Central Bank announced an increase in the exchange rate of USD for international organizations that are operative in the war-ravaged country.

UNRWA will temporarily suspend aid distribution until it re-adjusts the exchange rate. Text messages will be sent to the concerned refugees.
