The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) launched “Be the Light for Gaza” campaign to ensure Palestinian refugees in Gaza have access to much-needed relief assistance.

“We are launching our 2021 Ramadan campaign to make sure that everyone has enough to eat during this holy month”, said UNRWA in its appeal. “UNRWA is the only Agency mandated to protect the rights and dignity of Palestine refugees, millions of whom rely on the Agency to meet their most basic needs”.

UNRWA said that “even before COVID-19, a UN report declared that Gaza would be unliveable by 2020. The people of Gaza are battling a pandemic, unemployment, and poverty while trying to cling to hope”.

“UNRWA continues to provide life-saving support, including food assistance to over 1.2 million Palestine refugees in Gaza. As the need grows, we need your help more than ever”, it added.
