Palestinian Refugee Mahmoud Amayri has gone missing in Poland for nearly one month. His family continues to appeal to the concerned embassies and human rights organizations to work on disclosing his condition and whereabouts.

Mahmoud’s father, Khaled, said his son, born in 1998 and raised in Syria’s Yarmouk Camp for Palestinian refugees, disappeared in December 2021. He last contacted him while he was in Poland.

Hundreds of people from places like Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Africa have been trying to illegally cross the border between Poland and Belarus. Authorities have beefed up security in the region, amid accusations of inhumanely treatment of migrants.

Last month, Poland declared a state of emergency in the region and said it plans to build a wall on the border.

The Polish parliament also passed legislation that human rights advocates say aims to legalise pushbacks of migrants across its borders in breach of the country’s commitments under international law.
