A Palestinian boy Wednesday evening succumbed to his wounds sustained earlier by Israeli army gunfire in Shufat refugee camp, northeast of occupied east Jerusalem.
17-year-old Mohammad Ali died of his critical wounds after he was shot by Israeli army in the chest with a live round during clashes with Israeli forces that raided the camp.
Footage circulated on the internet showed Israeli soldiers savagely assaulting the boy and ripping off his clothes as he was bleeding before local residents were able to transfer him to Anata medical center.
The soldiers also assaulted paramedics as they were trying to evacuate the child.
Ali’s body was transferred to Hadassah hospital in the city. Israeli forces broke inside shortly after and withheld the boy’s body.
Following Ali’s death, a three-day general strike was declared in the refugee camp.
