Governments have strongly condemned Israel’s bloody assault on the northern occupied West Bank city of Jenin and its refugee camp and the killing of six Palestinians.

Turkiye expressed deep alarm over the deadly assault last night. “We condemn in the strongest terms the increased aggression and acts of violence by the Israeli forces and Israeli settlers in the West Bank,” said a Turkish Foreign Ministry statement, stressing that the killing of six Palestinians and the acts of violence against the Palestinian residents of the town of Hawara in the West Bank are unacceptable.

Jordan’s Foreign Ministry also said in a statement that Israel should immediately stop the military escalation against the Palestinian people, warning that it will lead to further deterioration in the situation and more violence.

Jordan called for serious efforts to engage in effective negotiations to achieve a just and comprehensive peace that ends the occupation and achieves an independent Palestinian state with occupied Jerusalem as its capital on the June 4, 1967 lines.

At the same time, Qatari Foreign Ministry considered the assault as “a blatant violation of international legitimacy resolutions,” warning of an explosion in the Palestinian territories while urging the international community “to take urgent action to stop the Israeli aggression, provide protection for the brotherly Palestinian people and hold Israel accountable for its horrific crimes in the occupied Palestinian territories.”

Meanwhile, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its “total rejection of the policy of repeated Israeli incursions and the resulting civilian casualties among the Palestinian people, which is accompanied by the destruction of property, the demolition of homes and the loss of lives, in clear violation of the rules of international law."

Egypt said Israeli violence heralds a serious deterioration of the security and humanitarian situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and threatens to destabilize the region.

Egypt called on all international actors, led by the United States, the European Union, and members of the Security Council, “to assume their responsibilities to put an end to the ongoing unilateral and escalatory measures”.
