The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassem Mohammad AlBudaiwi, condemned on Wednesday the Israeli occupation forces' assault on the city of Jenin and its refugee camp, which led to the death of six Palestinians and the injury of dozens.
AlBudaiwi, in a statement, called on the international community to urgently act to stop the Israeli aggressions, stressing they are a flagrant violation of international legitimacy resolutions regarding the Palestinian issue.
He called for providing the necessary protection for the Palestinian people and supporting regional and international efforts to advance the peace process in the Middle East.
AlBudaiwi stressed the position of the GCC countries towards the Palestinian cause and support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Israeli forces swept into the refugee camp of the occupied Palestinian city of Jenin on Tuesday searching for a wanted man, in the latest in a series of increasingly deadly incursions in the occupied West Bank. At least six Palestinians were killed and 26 injured, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
