Israeli military troops broke into Jericho city and the nearby Aqbet Jaber refugee camp on Monday, sparking violent clashes, according to local sources.

Heavily-armed Israeli soldiers cordoned off the main entrances and accessroads to Jericho Jericho city and Aqbet Jaber refugee camp, before they ravaged civilian homes and turned their rooftops into military outposts.

The raid sparked panic among civilians and resulted in violent clashes, during which Israeli forces fired live ammunition, stun grenades and tear gas canisters towards Palestinian civilians.

Over recent days, Israeli forces tightened grip around Jericho city and Aqbet Jaber refugee camp, blocking Palestinians’ access out of and into the area.
