JICA Signs $438,000 Project for Rehabilitation of Roads Network in Aqbat Jabr Refugee Camp in Jericho

A contract signing ceremony was held on Wednesday for the project of rehabilitation of roads network in Aqbat Jabr refugee camp in Jericho valued at $438,535.

The project will be funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Grant Aid on the “Program for Refugee Camps Improvement” and implemented by Department of Refugee Affairs (DoRA) and the Ministry of Finance.

A press release issued by the JICA office in Palestine and published by Palestinian news agency WAFA said the signing was held between the Popular Committee of Camp Services and the contractor Envirotech Company for Investment and Contracting with the presence of DoRA and the consultant company Pioneer Engineers (PEAK) and JICA Palestine Office.

The project was selected as a high priority for the camp residents that was listed in the Camp Improvement Plan (CIP) developed during Camp Improvement Project (PALCIP).

The Grand Aid Program will soon fund other projects including one for the construction of the women's center, said the press release.
