The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has demanded thorough investigations into all violations against the United Nations in Gaza, including attacks on its facilities, as reported by Anadolu Agency.

“We call for investigations into all violations against the United Nations, including attacks on our buildings,” said Juliette Touma, UNRWA’s Communications Director, to the Washington Post on Thursday.

In a statement on Friday, UNRWA emphasized, “UN Facilities are protected under International Humanitarian Law & must be safe shelters for civilians,” on the social media platform X.

Since a Hamas attack on October 7, Israel has escalated its aggressive military campaign in Gaza, disregarding a UN Security Council resolution that called for an immediate ceasefire.

Local health authorities report that over 36,700 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have been killed in Gaza, with more than 83,500 others injured.

On Friday, an Israeli airstrike hit the UN-operated Asma School in the Al-Shati Refugee Camp, according to Palestinian Civil Defence spokesman Mahmoud Basal. This incident follows another attack on Thursday, where Israeli forces bombed a school sheltering thousands of displaced individuals in the Nuseirat Refugee Camp in central Gaza.
