Palestinians in several West Bank cities held a general strike on Sunday to protest a deadly Israeli strike on a "humanitarian zone" in the southern Gaza Strip.

The strike, which hit the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis on Saturday, resulted in at least 100 deaths and nearly 300 injuries.

This tragic incident adds to the mounting toll of the conflict, which has seen numerous civilian casualties amidst the ongoing violence. The targeting of an area previously classified as a safe zone raises significant concerns about the safety and security of civilians in Gaza.

Shops and businesses were closed in Bethlehem, Tulkarm, Jenin, and Qalqilya in response to the attack.

Tensions in the West Bank have been high since Israel initiated a military offensive against Gaza, which has claimed more than 38,600 Palestinian lives since October 7.
