In a devastating attack, Israeli missiles struck a UN school sheltering hundreds of displaced Palestinians in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of at least 17 people and injuring more than 80 others.
This latest incident marks a severe escalation in the conflict, inflicting significant civilian casualties within a 24-hour period.
The targeted Abu Oreiban School, operated by the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), is located in the Nuseirat refugee camp, in central Gaza Strip. Several children and women have been among the victims of the strike.
In addition to the school attack, Israeli forces continued their offensive in Gaza, resulting in further casualties. At least 16 Palestinians were killed in northern Gaza City and another six in southern Rafah.
This wave of violence follows a particularly deadly strike on Saturday in the Al-Mawasi area of the southern Gaza Strip, where at least 90 people were killed and nearly 300 others injured in what has been described as a massacre in a "humanitarian zone" for displaced Palestinians.
The repeated targeting of civilians and UN facilities has drawn widespread condemnation and raised urgent calls for international intervention to protect the lives of innocent Palestinians caught in the ongoing conflict.
