A staggering 90 per cent of the population in Gaza has been displaced since the outbreak of hostilities in October 2023, according to UNICEF.

This unprecedented level of displacement has left countless families struggling to survive in conditions lacking basic necessities and safety.

In a statement on X, UNICEF said among the displaced, a significant number are children, who now face a daily struggle for survival amid the chaos. The shelters and temporary housing to which they have been forced to relocate are often inadequate, lacking essential resources such as clean water, food, and medical supplies. Safety concerns are also paramount, with many of these makeshift accommodations located in areas that are not secure from ongoing conflicts.

As the scale of the crisis presents immense challenges, the organization has reiterated its urgent call for an end to all hostilities and a lasting ceasefire to ensure the safety and well-being of Gaza's residents.

The displacement of 90 per cent of Gaza's population is a humanitarian crisis of unimaginable proportions. Rights groups are particularly concerned about the children, who are the most vulnerable in this situation. They need immediate access to safe shelter, clean water, food, and medical care.

Families are often forced to move multiple times, compounding the trauma and instability faced by children. Schools and hospitals have been severely affected, further disrupting the lives and education of young Gazans.

As the conflict continues, the plight of Gaza's displaced population remains a pressing concern. Without a cessation of hostilities and a commitment to peace, the situation is expected to deteriorate further, with long-term consequences for the region’s stability and the future of its children.
