The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has reported that the Israeli occupation forces' attack on an aid convoy heading to Gaza City on Sunday is not an isolated incident, asserting that such assaults have occurred previously.

Inas Hamdan, UNRWA’s head of communications, highlighted that this recent event is not the first time Israeli occupation forces have targeted aid workers. She noted that the convoy, which was traveling north of Gaza City, came under intense fire, although fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Hamdan stated that despite prior coordination with the Israeli side, the vehicle suffered severe damage.

“These convoys heading to the Gaza Strip should not be targeted, and what happened is a violation of international law, because this convoy had prior coordination. What happened is added to the list of violations,” Hamdan emphasized.

On Sunday, UNRWA announced that Israeli occupation forces opened fire on a UN convoy en route to Gaza City.

UNRWA Commissioner-General, Philippe Lazzarini, wrote on X that an agency vehicle was struck by at least five bullets while waiting at an Israeli military checkpoint in the central Gaza Strip.

Lazzarini added: “This took place yesterday. The teams were traveling in clearly marked UN armoured cars & wearing UN vests.”
