Since Monday, at least 129 Palestinians have been killed and over 416 injured in an ongoing Israeli military operation in Khan Younis city, located in the southern Gaza Strip, according to local authorities.
The Israeli forces launched an unexpected assault on the eastern neighborhoods of the city after ordering residents to evacuate their homes immediately.
This area had previously been designated by the Israeli military as a "safe zone" for displaced Palestinians amidst the ongoing offensive in Gaza.
The Gaza government's media office reported that 44 Palestinians remain missing following the attack. The office also noted that it has received approximately 1,350 distress calls from families trapped by the Israeli military in eastern Khan Younis.
According to the latest reports, around 237 houses have been bombed in the region. Despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire, Israel continues its military actions, facing widespread international condemnation. Since the 7 October 2023 Hamas attack, over 39,100 Palestinians, including many women and children, have been killed, and more than 90,200 injured, as per local health officials.
The conflict has left large parts of Gaza in ruins, exacerbated by a severe blockade restricting access to food, clean water, and medical supplies.
