UN Rapporteur: US Funding for Israeli Genocide in Gaza Expanding

The United Nations' special rapporteur on Palestine has criticized the United States for increasing its financial support for Israel amid the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip, where Israeli forces are deploying increasingly destructive weaponry.

" US funding of Israeli #Genocide is ballooning as the Israeli army uses ever more lethal bombs. The ones used yesterday in the #AlTabinSchool massacre sliced bodies to the point of making them unrecognizable. They are now identified by weight: 70kg bag = 1 adult. Revolting,” said Francesca Albanese in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, a day after an Israeli strike on a school in Gaza City killed over 100 Palestinians during dawn prayers.

The Israeli massacre occurred shortly after reports that the US is preparing to allocate $3.5 billion to Israel for the purchase of American weapons and military equipment, part of a $14.1 billion supplemental bill approved by Congress in April.

On Saturday, Albanese referred to Gaza as the largest and most disgraceful concentration camp of the 21st century: "Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians, neighborhood by neighborhood, hospital by hospital, school by school, refugee camp by refugee camp, and 'safe zone' by 'safe zone.'"

The Israeli onslaught against the Gaza Strip has killed nearly 39,700 people since last October following a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas.

More than 10 months into the Israeli onslaught, vast tracts of Gaza lie in ruins amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water and medicine.

Israel is accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which ordered it to immediately halt its military operation in the southern city of Rafah, where more than 1 million Palestinians had sought refuge from the war before it was invaded on May 6.
