The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has reported significant challenges in providing urgent winter supplies to the people of Gaza, despite their best efforts.
In a statement on Monday, UNRWA said items such as plastic sheets, tents, mattresses, mats, blankets, and other necessities are urgently needed.
UNRWA highlighted that both it and other humanitarian organizations are facing severe difficulties in transporting these supplies into the Gaza Strip. The agency stressed that as soon as the materials arrive, they will be distributed to those in urgent need.
UNRWA has made an urgent call for an end to the destruction of homes and shelters, urging the opening of more crossings to facilitate the delivery of essential supplies to the thousands of affected families.
Additionally, the agency emphasized the immediate need for a ceasefire to ensure the safe and continuous delivery of aid, allowing families the opportunity to rebuild their lives in safety.
The ongoing Israeli war on Gaza has caused widespread devastation, killing and injuring an estimated 135,000 Palestinians, many of whom are children and women. Over 10,000 remain missing amidst massive destruction and famine, contributing to one of the most severe humanitarian crises globally.
