The ongoing conflict in Gaza has led to devastating consequences for Palestinian children, with at least 14,500 killed since last year, according to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).

The agency stressed the gravity of the situation in a statement: “One child gets killed every hour. These are not numbers. These are lives cut short.”

UNRWA highlighted the lasting impact on the survivors, stating, “Killing children cannot be justified. Those who survive are scarred physically and emotionally.”

The statement also underscored how children in Gaza, deprived of education, are left to sift through rubble, their futures and hope slipping away. “The clock is ticking for these children. They are losing their lives, their futures and mostly their hope,” the agency warned.

Gaza’s health authorities report that over 45,200 people, the majority of whom are women and children, have been killed, with more than 107,500 injured, since October 7 last year, when Israel started its genocidal war on the blockaded enclave, despite a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.
