A Palestinian infant has succumbed to freezing temperatures in Gaza, increasing the number of cold-related deaths to eight amidst Israel's ongoing assault on the besieged territory, according to the Health Ministry on Monday.

The ministry reported that 35-day-old Yousef Ahmad Kalloub tragically died due to the severe winter weather afflicting the region.

Gaza has endured relentless Israeli military operations since the Hamas-led attack on October 7, 2023, resulting in over 45,800 fatalities, predominantly women and children, and more than 109,000 injuries.

In addition to the bombardment, Israel has enforced a crippling blockade on the territory, pushing its population to the brink of starvation. The already dire humanitarian situation has been exacerbated by freezing temperatures and heavy rains, forcing displaced families to endure harsh conditions in makeshift tents.
