Israeli forces targeted a bulldozer in central Gaza late Monday, killing one Palestinian and injuring several others, marking a breach of the ceasefire that began on January 19, according to witnesses.
Eye-witnesses told the official Palestinian news agency Wafa that the bulldozer was assisting a stranded vehicle in the Nuweiri area, west of the Nuseirat refugee camp, when it was struck by an Israeli aircraft.
The attack resulted in the death of the driver and injuries to others.
This incident represents the second fatality caused by Israeli forces since the return of Palestinians to northern Gaza. Earlier, a Palestinian girl was killed, and three others were wounded in an Israeli airstrike targeting civilians returning to their homes via the coastal al-Rashid Street.
The Israeli military confirmed that they had opened fire on Palestinians and their vehicles in several Gaza locations on Monday, claiming civilians had entered restricted areas.
The Gaza Media Office reported that over 300,000 people crossed into northern Gaza through al-Rashid Street in the west and Salah al-Din Street in the east.
The ceasefire agreement, which was put in place on January 19, brought a temporary halt to Israel’s violent actions in Gaza, which have resulted in the deaths of over 47,300 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, and left more than 111,400 injured since October 7, 2023.
