Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) has sharply condemned a recent executive order signed by US President Donald Trump, which facilitates the deportation of pro-Palestinian student activists.
The order has been described by JVP as part of a "violent crusade" against freedom of speech and political dissent.
In a statement on social media network X, JVP expressed its outrage, accusing Trump of continuing a harmful agenda that undermines democracy and free expression.
They criticized the order as a "vile" attempt to suppress opposition to US-supported Israeli actions in Gaza, where over 47,000 people have been killed amid ongoing military operations.
The executive order outlines that the US government will use “all available and appropriate legal tools” to combat anti-Semitism, including the prosecution and potential deportation of individuals accused of anti-Semitic harassment. This measure is aimed at curbing student-led anti-war demonstrations, particularly those held on college campuses in response to Israel’s military actions in Gaza.
JVP also accused Trump and right-wing groups of using concerns over anti-Semitism as a cover to advance their political agenda, stating that neither Trump nor conservative organizations such as the Heritage Foundation have shown any genuine concern for the safety of Jewish people.
The organization has called on elected officials and university leaders to reject the executive order, warning that it threatens to undermine the historic movement for Palestinian liberation and could also be used to silence other progressive movements.
In response, JVP pledged to resist what they called an "authoritarian," "unconstitutional," and "violent" measure that seeks to stifle dissent. The group reaffirmed its commitment to opposing the order through peaceful and political means.
