PRC Launches Landmark International Conference on Gaza: Advocating for Justice and Accountability

The London-based Palestinian Return Centre (PRC) has commenced its highly anticipated international conference, "Naming Genocide: The Global Responsibility for Gaza," with powerful opening remarks that laid the foundation for urgent discussions on justice and accountability.

Against the backdrop of ongoing devastation in Gaza, the event gathered legal scholars, human rights activists, and media professionals to challenge impunity and demand concrete international action.

PRC's Public Relations Officer, Haya Natsheh, set the tone by asserting that the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza—marked by civilian casualties, relentless bombardment, and an unrelenting blockade—constitutes genocide.

Natsheh emphasized that this gathering is not merely an intellectual exercise but a call for global intervention, stressing that addressing such crimes is both a legal obligation and a moral duty.

Natsheh introduced the conference’s agenda, structured around three crucial themes: the legal basis of genocide, firsthand experiences of Palestinians in Gaza, and strategies to transform advocacy into meaningful international solidarity.

Following her address, prominent Palestinian-American international lawyer Lara Elborno delivered a compelling speech on historical accountability and the urgent need for global recognition of Palestinian suffering.

Elborno dedicated her remarks to Palestinians across Gaza, the West Bank, and historic Palestine, as well as to future generations, underscoring that their struggle is deeply tied to decades of displacement and systematic human rights abuses.

Elborno called for the global community to acknowledge the ongoing Nakba and actively work against the erasure of Palestinian history, reinforcing that collective memory and resistance are key to justice.

The conference will proceed with a series of in-depth discussions that examine the legal, humanitarian, and advocacy aspects of the crisis in Gaza. These dialogues aim to amplify Palestinian narratives, challenge historical revisionism, and mobilize sustained global action towards justice and accountability.
