More than 200 Italian Jews have issued a public appeal denouncing what they describe as an "ethnic cleansing" plan in Gaza, referring to a proposal linked to former U.S. President Donald Trump that includes a permanent displacement of Palestinians.

Published on Wednesday by the Rome-based daily La Repubblica, the appeal declares, "Italian Jews say no to ethnic cleansing. Italy must not be an accomplice."

The statement also strongly condemns the violence carried out by the Israeli government and settlers in both Gaza and the West Bank.

This initiative is led by the organizations Jewish Anti-Racist Laboratory and Never Indifferent and Jewish Voices for Peace, both of which advocate for a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.
