The total number of Palestinians killed in Israel’s war on Gaza since October 2023 has reached 48,446, as Palestinian medics and rescue teams have recovered six more bodies from the rubble, the Health Ministry reported on Thursday.
According to the ministry, seven wounded Palestinians were transferred to hospitals over the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of those injured in the Israeli offensive to 111,852.
Officials warned that the actual toll could be significantly higher, as many victims are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them.
Although a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement has officially been in place since January 19, bringing a temporary halt to Israel’s military operations, the situation remains dire.
Local authorities in Gaza have reported repeated ceasefire violations by Israeli forces, with near-daily incidents of gunfire and aggression continuing to threaten civilians and rescue efforts.
The months-long Israeli assault has left Gaza in ruins, with entire neighborhoods reduced to rubble and critical infrastructure destroyed. Humanitarian organizations continue to warn of catastrophic conditions, as displaced families struggle to access basic necessities, including food, water, and medical aid.
Despite international calls for lasting peace and urgent humanitarian relief, the suffering of Gaza’s population remains unabated. Rescue efforts persist under extreme difficulties, as medics and aid workers strive to locate and assist survivors amid the devastation.
