At least five Palestinians were killed and several others wounded early Monday after an Israeli airstrike targeted a residential home in Khan Younis, located in the southern Gaza Strip, according to the official Palestinian news agency.
Medical sources cited by WAFA confirmed the casualties, noting that the strike came amid Israel’s ongoing and devastating military onslaught in Gaza.
In a separate incident, an Israeli naval unit reportedly opened fire on fishing vessels off the coast of Rafah, injuring one Palestinian fisherman.
Meanwhile, Israeli artillery shelling resumed across eastern Gaza City, with the Zeitoun neighborhood and Sha'af area bearing the brunt of the bombardment.
The latest escalation follows Israel’s renewed military offensive, which resumed on March 18, effectively collapsing a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that had been in place since January 19.
Since the onset of the war in October 2023, nearly 51,000 Palestinians — the majority of whom are women and children — have been killed in what human rights groups and international observers have described as a disproportionate and indiscriminate campaign of violence.
