Tunisia has long been a forthright advocate of the Palestinian cause
The Republic of Tunisia has called on donor countries to keep up financial support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
In a letter marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People and published on the Foreign Ministry’s website, Tunisia underscored the need to increase funds allotted to UNRWA in order to help the agency overcome its critical budget deficit and sustain its core essential services to Palestine refugees.
Tunisia urged all the world’s “free people” and peace-building parties to take serious steps in favor of the “just” Palestinian cause, which it said makes part and parcel of the international community’s “humanitarian, moral, political, and legal duty” in this regard.
The North African country called for serious measures in response to Israel’s “racist and inhumane” policies against the Palestinian people and its illegal settlement activity and other practices violating international resolutions.
Tunisia expressed deep concern over Israel’s apathy regarding Palestinians’ tragic conditions, vowing to speak up for Palestinians’ infringed rights across regional and international platforms.
