The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has sounded the alarm over the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, revealing that approximately half a million people have been newly displaced over the past month alone due to intensified Israeli military operations.
In a statement issued Friday, the Agency warned that "the multiple displacement orders issued by the Israeli military leave Palestinians with less than a third of Gaza’s area to live in.
UNRWA stressed that even this remaining space is "fragmented, unsafe, and barely livable."
The mass displacement comes on top of previous waves of forced evacuation that have already pushed the population to the brink.
With continuous bombardments and repeated orders for civilians to relocate, thousands of families have been forced to flee their homes multiple times, often with nowhere safe to go.
UNRWA described the conditions in Gaza’s overcrowded shelters as "terrible," highlighting the immense pressure on already strained infrastructure.
“Service providers are struggling to operate,” the Agency said, noting that critical supplies and resources are on the verge of total depletion. Access to clean water, food, medical aid, and sanitation has become increasingly scarce as the humanitarian situation rapidly deteriorates.
