The death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to over 52,829 as Israeli military operations have gone unabated, with no respite in sight for the besieged population, according to the latest figures released by the Palestinian Health Ministry.

In the past 24 hours alone, Israeli strikes claimed the lives of 19 Palestinians and left 81 others wounded. This brings the number of injuries since the launch of Israel’s military campaign in October 2023 to a staggering 119,554, the ministry confirmed on Sunday.

“Several bodies remain buried under the rubble and scattered in the streets, inaccessible due to ongoing attacks and the lack of rescue capacity,” the statement said.

Since hostilities resumed on 18 March — following the breakdown of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal reached in January — at least 2,720 additional people have been killed, with more than 7,500 injured in the latest wave of violence.

The situation continues to deteriorate rapidly across the Gaza Strip, where months of relentless bombardment have decimated neighborhoods, overwhelmed hospitals, and pushed over two million residents to the brink of survival. Humanitarian groups warn that the collapse of emergency services is preventing any meaningful recovery or rescue operations, leaving many victims unreached under debris.

International calls for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian access have yet to yield tangible results, as Gaza endures one of the deadliest and most protracted military assaults in recent history.
