Israeli forces killed over 25 Palestinians across the Gaza Strip on Monday—the final day of Eid al-Adha—just hours after Israeli naval forces intercepted a civilian aid flotilla attempting to break the blockade and deliver life-saving supplies to the enclave.

The fresh wave of attacks came as international condemnation mounted over Israel’s interception of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla, a civilian-led convoy carrying humanitarian aid and activists. The flotilla had sought to challenge the Israeli blockade, which has crippled Gaza’s access to food, medicine, and essential infrastructure since 2007. Its interception has reignited global concerns about Israel’s stranglehold on humanitarian lifelines and the ongoing military onslaught.

In Rafah, in southern Gaza, a medical source reported that eight Palestinians were shot dead near an aid distribution site operated by the Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation in the Al-Alam area. The attack unfolded near a zone meant to facilitate humanitarian relief, underscoring the growing danger faced by displaced civilians seeking basic necessities.

In central Gaza’s Nuseirat refugee camp, Al-Awda Hospital confirmed that an Israeli airstrike killed three civilians and wounded nine others as they gathered near a residential area. The same camp also witnessed the deaths of three more people—including two local police officers—who were targeted in a separate Israeli strike while on duty.

Elsewhere in central Gaza, 31 Palestinians were injured by Israeli gunfire in the vicinity of an Israeli-American aid distribution site near the controversial Netzarim Corridor—an area increasingly marked by both militarization and humanitarian desperation.

In southern Gaza’s Khan Younis, a Palestinian civilian was killed in an Israeli strike on the town of Abasan, while in Gaza City, Israeli drone fire reportedly targeted a crowded marketplace in the Shejaiya neighborhood.

Medics confirmed that four people were killed in Shejaiya and the adjacent al-Tuffah district, and three more lost their lives in the Al-Zaitoun neighborhood as Israeli bombardment continued unabated.

Monday's killings brought further grief to Gaza’s population, who have endured relentless bombardment throughout the Eid al-Adha holiday. Over the past four days, nearly 150 Palestinians have been killed during what should have been a time of religious celebration.

Since the launch of Israel’s military offensive on Gaza in October 2023, nearly 54,900 Palestinians have been killed—most of them women and children—according to Gaza health authorities.

Israel continues to reject growing international appeals for a ceasefire, even as global outrage swells over the lethal blockade, the targeting of civilian zones, and now, the interception of aid flotillas seeking to alleviate a man-made famine.
