Outrage is mounting in the United States following the death of 20-year-old American citizen Sayfollah “Saif” Musallet, who was reportedly beaten to death by Israeli settlers on his family’s land in the occupied West Bank.

The killing has prompted calls from U.S. lawmakers and human rights advocates for immediate action and a halt to American support for what Israel’s apartheid regime.

According to human rights lawyer Mai El-Sadany, Musallet, born in Florida, “was brutally beaten to death by Israeli settlers on his family's land.”

She added that “for 3 hours, a mob surrounded Saif and prevented the ambulance and paramedic from reaching him to deliver life-saving care.”

The violent killing, which occurred with the backing or complicity of Israeli military forces, has sparked fierce condemnation from members of Congress.

Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib denounced the U.S. government's continued military and financial support to Israel in the wake of Musallet’s death.

“An American was beaten to death by Israeli settlers backed by the military,” said Tlaib. “Instead of pursuing justice for Sayfollah, our government continues to send billions to prop up the apartheid system that killed him and kills Palestinians like him every day. Arms Embargo Now.”

Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley also called for urgent accountability and a formal investigation led by the U.S. government.

“Sayfollah Musallet should be alive today,” she said. “Instead, he was beaten to death in the West Bank by Israeli settlers, the second American killed there this year.”

“The State Department must lead an immediate investigation and root out settler violence once and for all. There must be accountability”, added Pressley.

The killing of Musallet marks a grim escalation in settler violence, which has seen a sharp rise during the ongoing genocidal war on Gaza and amid increasing tensions across the occupied Palestinian territories.

As pressure builds on the Trump administration to respond, advocacy organizations and progressive lawmakers are demanding an immediate halt to arms transfers and military assistance to Israel, citing repeated violations of international law and the rights of U.S. citizens.
