The death toll in the Gaza Strip has surged past 59,000 as Israel's months-long assault shows no signs of slowing.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 59,106 Palestinians have been killed since the Israeli military launched its offensive in October 2023.
In the past 24 hours alone, 77 bodies were recovered and brought to hospitals, with an additional 376 people wounded. This brings the total number of injuries since the beginning of the war to 142,511.
The Health Ministry warned that the actual death toll may be significantly higher, as many victims remain trapped beneath the rubble and on inaccessible roads.
The humanitarian crisis continues to deepen, with civilians being killed even as they attempt to access aid. In the last day, five Palestinians lost their lives and more than 52 others were injured while trying to secure food and supplies. Since May 27, over 1,026 Palestinians have been killed and 6,563 wounded in similar circumstances.
Israel reignited its military campaign on March 18, breaking a previously established ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal that had been in place since January. Since the resumption of hostilities, 8,268 Palestinians have been killed and 30,470 others injured.
