At least six more Palestinians, including children, have died in the last 24 hours from starvation in the besieged Gaza Strip, bringing the official death toll from malnutrition to 175 since the beginning of Israel’s ongoing military assault.
In a Sunday statement, the Gaza-based Health Ministry announced reported that among the victims are 93 children, underscoring the severe humanitarian toll of the Israeli blockade and continued bombardment.
The Israeli military campaign, which began on October 7, 2023, has already killed over 60,400 Palestinians, the majority of whom are women and children.
Access to basic necessities such as food, clean water, and medical supplies has collapsed amid Israel’s siege, compounded by the widely criticized and ineffective aid distribution overseen by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.
The Palestinian Return Centre (PRC) continues to sound the alarm over the deliberate starvation of civilians, which is a war crime and a hallmark of genocidal warfare.
Relief efforts have been hampered by Israel’s targeting of aid convoys, the destruction of agricultural infrastructure, and the blockade of entry points for humanitarian assistance.
