Health professionals in Greece staged a demonstration outside the Israeli Embassy in Athens on Friday, denouncing Israel’s latest attacks on medical facilities in the besieged Gaza Strip, as the genocidal war continues to claim more lives.
Dozens of protesters, many wearing white doctors’ coats splattered with red paint, gathered to highlight what they described as deliberate assaults on health care in the besieged territory.
Participants waved Palestinian flags, held placards with slogans such as “Stop the genocide,” and chanted calls for freedom for Palestine.
The rally was sparked by Monday’s airstrike on the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, which Gaza’s Health Ministry said killed at least 20 people, including five journalists and a firefighter.
Organizers said the protest was not only about solidarity with Palestinians but also a warning about attacks on health systems and workers. “Targeting hospitals is a crime against humanity,” one participant told local reporters.
According to Palestinian officials, Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has left more than 63,000 people dead since October 2023, while pushing the enclave to the brink of famine.
