Israeli airstrikes targeting residential towers in Gaza have forced dozens of families from their homes, many of whom are now left on the streets without shelter or basic necessities, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said Sunday.

“With humanitarian access severely restricted, the suffering of already displaced persons is only deepening,” the agency warned in a post on X.

The latest wave of displacement comes on top of the mass uprooting of Palestinians since Israel’s military campaign began in October 2023. Entire neighborhoods have been destroyed, leaving many families with no option but to sleep in the open or in overcrowded shelters.

UNRWA reiterated its call for an immediate ceasefire, stressing that civilians are bearing the brunt of the conflict. “We need a #CeasefireNow,” the agency said.

More than 64,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s ongoing genocidal war on Gaza, now in its 2nd year, according to health authorities in the enclave, which is also suffering famine conditions under Israel’s ongoing blockade.
