The Palestinian Return Centre (PRC), who, for the past sixteen years, has been advocating the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their land, launched a global campaign, in support of this key issue.
PRC launched the camping by writing to embassies in the UK to press their governments in support of the refugees. The campaign reminded all the respected countries about the 7.1 million Palestinian refugees and stated that resolving the plight of Palestinian refugees, as laid down in international law, is the only way to secure lasting peace and prosperity for the region. It further reminded the countries that the refugees around the world, with whom PRC have very strong ties with, have never and will never relinquish this right. Mr Al Zeer ended with an appeal to the embassies stating “Your support will help to end the cycle of violence in the region, end the occupation, end the apartheid regime and end the racism that Palestinians routinely experience. At a time of change in the region, your efforts will enrich the culture of democracy and dialogue towards ending this long standing conflict”.PRC hopes that the refugee issue will not be marginalized and will continue to inform the political process which must defend and uphold human rights and international law and not side step basic provisions in international law. Any such efforts will be illegitimate and inapplicable.
