PRC representatives visited the city of Delhi where they met many refugees who were victims of terrorism and violence. Many had lost family members during the violence that ensued following UK lead invasion of Iraq. Thousands more were scattered around the world marking a new Nakba. The refugees in India are suffering immeasurably as they are outside UNHCR protection. They are temporarily in India until they move to final host country. Some members of their families have moved to Europe, Canda and the US after coming to India. According to Om shams, a refugee mother who spoke of her suffering from Iraq to Syria then India. She was hoping to have some relief from the years of suffering after moving to India. Her hope was shattered as she moved from one form of oppression to another. Some of her family members are still in Sweden while she is in India. She lives in India by her own and relies on the goodwill of others. Om Shams hopes to be able to live in security and join her family as she has a little girl with her. As for PRC delegate to India, Arefat Bojema, counts the difficulties Palestinian Refugees face in India.  They are not allowed to work and don’t get the support from either the Indian government or United Nation bodies. They are also deprived of the basics of health and social care.Mustafa, young Palestinian refugee, is still seeking to have opportunities of a just and secure life. “My friend, Ahmed al Helo, came with us. He was hoping to live here and have the chance of a better life. However he died after a battle with chronic disease due to a lack of basic health care. According to PRC General Director, Majed al Zeer, the centre seeks to end the suffering of Palestinian Refugees by working with many official parties, including those Palestinian Refugees who came from Iraq. “The centre has done its utmost on following up the issue of Palestinian Refugees from Iraq. We sent many parliamentarian delegations, met with the refugees, Syrian and United Nations officials. Also we followed up the cases of those who were located by the UNCHR worldwide. We hope to support in ending this saga of the Palestinian refugee crises as soon as possible.”  Said al Zeer

Early this week, Iraqi security forces stormed into al Baldiat residential compound which is a home for hundreds of Palestinians. They arrested and attacked the residents under the observation of current Iraqi government.
