The 10th Palestinians in Europe Conference organized by the General Secretariat of the Palestinians in Europe Conference, The Palestinian Return Centre (PRC) and the Palestinian Forum in Denmark concluded its works and activities Saturday, 28th, April 2012 in Denmark, Copenhagen. The conference was titled “Our Spring blossoms our Return”
Tunisian President, Mohammed Monsif al Marzouqi delivered a televised speech where he supported the struggle of the Palestinian people and the right of refugees to return to their homes and villages in the occupied historical Palestine. Tunisian Presidential Bureau Director, Emad Al Daimi, also delivered a speech on behalf of the President where he expressed the support of Tunian people and their leadership for the Palestinian cause. The conference discussed key issues like the Palestinian Refugees in Iraq and Nahr al Bard Refugee camp crisis where calls have been made on the Lebanese government to improve the refugees living conditions.Former British Minster and MP, Clare Short expressed her joy to speak on behalf of thousands of Palestinian Refugees. She called on granting the Palestinian Refugees their full rights especially the right of Return. She also slams Israel the reasonability of peace failure in the Middle East through its expansionist polices.
From the occupied Palestine, Dr. Mustafa Al Barghuti, a Parliamentarian and President of Palestinian Initiative attended the event where he described the apartheid practices of Israel in the West Bank and Jerusalem. Al Barghuti, emphasized on the popular resistance as a necessity at the time being beside all other legal methods of resistance of the occupation.
Palestinian Parliamentarian and Head of Popular Committee Against the Siege on Gaza, Jamal Al Kohdary, delivered a speech where he called on an immediate action to lift the siege on Gaza and unity of Palestinian movements in a step to challenge Israeli occupation. Other key speakers included Dr. Muhammad Yasir Amro, Chair of Academy of Palestinian Refugee Studies and also, Basim Kayed, chair of Palestinian Scholars league in Lebanon.
“Arab Revolution and the Palestinian Cause” and “Key Palestinian issues – Jerusalem, Refugees, Prisoners and settlements”Other workshops highlighted on the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) and Palestinian unity where participants underline key points to reform and rebuild PLO with standards agreed by a national consensus.
The conference launched a campaign titled, “European Campaign to Release Palestinian prisoners” where a number of organizations have agreed to unite efforts to form a pressure on the European union and its officials.
During the previous nine years the conference was held in various European cities like London 2003, Berlin 2004, Vienna 2005, Malmo 2006, Rotterdam 2007, Copenhagen 2008, Milan 2009, Berlin 2010 and Wuppertal, Germany 2011.
