A delegation from the Palestinian Return Centre (PRC) participated in a UN Seminar on Assistance to the Palestinian People convened by the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, FAO Headquarters, Rome, 27-28 Feb. 2013.

The Seminar reviewed the impact of Israeli occupation and practices on the socio-economic and humanitarian situation in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip.  It also examined the financial and developmental challenges facing Palestine as well as the opportunities stemming from the UN admission of the State of Palestine.

The two-day seminar also addressed the role of the international donor communities in mobilizing and coordinating the assistance to the Palestinian people in light of the recent political developments.

PRC made various statements to highlight the humanitarian conditions facing all Palestinians, including the millions of refugees, many of whom are facing difficult and life threatening challenges. It also called for wider representation for Palestinian refugees at the different UN arenas.

PRC delegation included Arafet Boujema, head of Legal Department and Sameh Habeeb, head of Media/PR department.

PRC representatives also highlighted the double standards in the position of the European Union. The statements were directed to the EU representative who confessed that the best the EU is capable of are words of strong condemnations and ineffective denunciation of Israeli policy.
