Thousands of Palestinians to gather at “11th Palestinians Europe Conference” in Belgium
Preparations for the annual Palestinians in Europe conference are running smoothly. The 11th Conference, organized by the General Secretariat of the Palestinians in Europe Conference, The Palestinian Return Centre (PRC), will be held in Belgium on Saturday 18th May 2013.

Under the theme of this year’s conference, “Sign of Return is blossoming” thousands of Palestinians will converge on the Belgian capital and joined by politicians, leaders of the Palestinian community, academics, journalists and many more.

Thousands Palestinians, including representatives from other Arab/Muslim and European communities are expected to take part at the event.

The annual conference is an eagerly anticipated event in the Palestinian calendar as it provides a unique opportunity for the growing Palestinian community in Europe to show their solidarity for the right of return as well as being a festive occasion to celebrate Palestinian culture and heritage.

The one day conference will run from 10am to 10pm. In addition to the main conference, a number of workshops and seminars will be held to focus on specific issues.

Conference coordinator, Amir Awawda, the event will include workshops, discussion sessions, folklore and Palestinian bazaar. It will be a remainder for Palestinians of their homeland even as they continue to live in exile. Awawda revealed that committees have met last week in Brussels to prepare for the conference.

The program of the conference includes different sessions regarding women, youth and children.

Awawda added that keynote speakers from the various different organizations will take part.

President of the Conference and PRC General Director, Majed al Zeer commented on the title of the conference and said,

“The title of the conference is very symbolic and it reflects the desire and belief of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and towns from where they were forcibly expelled in 1948. Local, regional and international political environments are changing and this is a push from the global Palestinian community for their desire to return.
