European Parliament Delegation for Relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council (DPLC) call on ECOSOC to support the Palestinian Return Centre
Notice to the member States s of the UN ECOSOC
Delegation for relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council
Martina Anderson
Chair of the EP Delegation for Relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council
issues the following Statement:
On 1 June 2015, the UN's Committee on NGOs recommended that the Palestinian Return Centre (PRC), a UN NGO member of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People for more than ten years, be given consultative status at the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Having this status at the UN would be of significant benefit to the organisation, and would also provide broader protection of the rights of Palestinian refugees.
In my capacity as Chair and on behalf of the EP Delegation for Relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council (DPLC), I urge the European Union and all its Member States to support the implementation of UN's recommendation to grant the Palestinian Return Centre, which defends the right of return of Palestinian refugees, the consultative status at the United Nations.
