PRC delivers Oral Interventions during Item 7 of HRC34

Geneva – London, March 21st 2017

The Palestinian Return Centre (PRC) delivered two oral statements during the 34th Session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva under Agenda Item 7.

The first oral intervention was during the Interactive dialogue with Michael Lynk Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967. PRC’s statement focused on the Israeli attacks against Palestinian Human Rights Defenders (HRD). PRC highlighted the coordinated campaign against HRDs, which attempts to delegitimize their human rights advocacy.

The second oral intervention was delivered during the General Debate on Human rights situation in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories. PRC’s representative “Sameh Habeeb” stressed that inside the occupied territories Palestinian refugees continue to suffer from Israel’s illegal military occupation, colonial policies and apartheid regime. This is entrenching the prolonged exile of Palestine refugees, and their descendants, forcibly displaced after 1947 and intentionally denied the right to return as stated in UN resolution 194.
