PRC holds discussion with Labour's Shadow Minister for Peace and Disarmament

London, 13 December 2017

The Palestinian Return Centre (PRC) met with Labour Party Member of Parliament and Shadow Minister for Peace and Disarmament, Fabian Hamilton, earlier today.

The PRC briefed Mr. Hamilton on its work focused on advocating for the Palestinian right to return as well as its UN work and UK parliamentary activities.

Mr. Hamilton discussed his recent trip to Palestine with Emily Thornberry MP and condemned Israel's occupation of Palestine as a form of collective punishment, a war crime, in violation of the Geneva Convention.

Mr. Hamilton noted that "Palestinians mustn't be a pawn in Middle East relations" and highlighted the Labour Party's dedication to declare an independent state of Palestine, and commitment towards ensuring the Palestinians will get their rights and freedom.

In light of Trump's recent decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital, Mr. Hamilton stated that Labour's two-state solution is possible, but not for much longer.

Mr. Hamilton said he was "deeply offended" by the fact that there are two different rights for Palestinians and Israelis, and stated that he can see what Israel is doing is wrong.

The PRC is grateful for the valuable and productive discussion with Fabian Hamilton MP, and looks forward to future collaborations.
